Summer 2016 Pindot Press Business Cards

It’s time to print new business cards, but… we didn’t save the business card Illustrator file. Whoops! Luckily, the violet screen from our previous business card print run was still on the ink cylinder. Now we just need to spruce it up with a second colour!

Sometimes, for whatever reason, files just don’t get saved when they’re supposed to be. This happened to our business card design Illustrator file. Our last run looked like this:

Luckily, we hadn’t used the violet ink cylinder since the last business card print run, which meant the violet master/screen was still stuck to the ink cylinder. The orange ink cylinder, however, had been used and the master replaced.

One of the charming things about riso is that it has a photocopy function. We decided to take advantage of this function by hand-drawing the patterns on the new cards.

Step 1: We printed the violet layer and put a blank sheet on top of it. Then, using a lightbox, we started hand-drawing patterns on the blank sheet over the violet layer, taking care not to obstruct the text.
